The Trump Doctrine | Stay Woke

14.05.26 ART EXHIBITION | MUSIC | CONCERT | DJ SET

On Thursday, May 14, starting at 8:30 PM, the CAM Museum (Casoria Contemporary Art Museum) presents a double event of international scope, where art and music come together as both a weapon of protest and a tool for reflection. The highlight of the evening will be the exhibition “The Trump Doctrine: Stay Woke”, a powerful manifesto in which art becomes denunciation and critical thought against the contradictions of a troubling present, accompanied by a concert by the renowned violinist and composer Lino Cannavacciuolo, whose ability to transform Mediterranean and electronic sounds into pure emotion is unmatched.

From the Iranian Revolution to the war in Ukraine, the Casoria museum has explored and narrated some of the most incendiary chapters of contemporary history, transforming art into a critical voice of our time. Today, in an era marked by global tensions, conflicts, and profound social transformations, the CAM Museum once again questions the present through a provocative and necessary perspective, doing so through the works of international artists.

The exhibition investigates the concept of “Stay Woke” — understood as the systematic dismantling of progressive ideals — and reflects on the risks of a new global censorship and the resilience of free art. The Trump doctrine, based on opposition to political correctness, woke culture, non-American ethnicities, diversity, and inclusion, risks impacting cultural institutions and their protagonists like a major catastrophe. Through a selection of provocative works, the CAM Museum intervenes in the debate, taking a stand in defense of freedom of expression.

Antonio Manfredi, director of the CAM, emphasizes the museum’s commitment to raising awareness:
“The CAM is not afraid to accuse the leading figure behind this cultural regression. The choices we have made carry the visionary voice of artists close to us who share our battles. To make the message even stronger, we have also involved our visitors in a flash mob against Trump, which will take place on the evening of the opening. We hope others will follow our example and begin sending stronger signals.”

In addition to artworks from around the world, the exhibition at the Casoria museum will feature AI-generated Lego-style videos created by young Iranian activists from the collective Explosive Media, aimed at mocking Trump.

The evening will continue with a concert by Lino Cannavacciuolo, an undisputed master of the fusion between Mediterranean tradition and avant-garde experimentation. Throughout his career, the Neapolitan composer has collaborated with prominent artists such as Pino Daniele, Peppe Barra, Edoardo Bennato, and Tony Esposito, standing out for his emotional intensity and refined performance style. His violin will become the narrative voice of this cultural resistance, translating into music the clash between imposed order and the creative chaos of art.

The evening will conclude with a DJ set at EXIT, the CAM’s Concept Bar.
