CAM Contemporary Art Museum, a flagship of Campania, reopens
After more than a year of closure, the CAM Contemporary Art Museum in Casoria will reopen on January 17 at 8:00 PM, with completely renovated spaces.
The museum, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year, boasts an exhibition space of 2,000 square meters and a permanent collection of over 2,200 works from 92 countries. The new museum layout and its eclectic programming reaffirm CAM as a reference point for local, national, and international contemporary art, also thanks to its multidisciplinary approach.
For years, CAM has welcomed all forms of artistic expression, from music to theater, from literature to cinema, hosting artists from around the world. Now, with the newly completed renovations, it strengthens its role as a cultural hub and experimental laboratory.
The Casoria Museum reopens with a concert area, the Concept Bar Exit, a theater space, an art library, a co-working area, an audio-video studio, a painting workshop, the CAM Video Box, a space for presenting new films and bibliographic works, and a temporary exhibition area.
Directed by Antonio Manfredi, CAM operates on the premise that a public art collection is a reflection of the culture of its time, a powerful tool for resistance and social change, a universal language of communication. Based on these principles, CAM aims to create a dynamic, multidisciplinary reality.
Over the years, the museum has hosted numerous internationally recognized artistic events, including protests against wars, mafias, initiatives to discover young local talents, music festivals, and contemporary art exhibitions. Many personalities from the worlds of art, cinema, music, and culture have shown their interest in this institution, supporting and actively participating in its events.
On Friday, January 17, in celebration of the CAM Museum’s reopening, the new concert area will be inaugurated. A stage in the heart of the artworks, it will become a central hub for performers, musicians, actors, and dancers.
The special guests who will inaugurate the stage include: pianist Genny Basso, followed by Greg Rega, Jovine, PeppOh, Fabiana Martone, Ebbanesis, CAM Quartet, Giuseppe Spinelli, Antonio Esposito, Enrico Sforza, Gianluigi Capasso, and many others.
There will also be theatrical performances by Diego Sommaripa and Pasquale Palma, a live electronics show with video mapping by Gaetano Vincenti, and, to close, a DJ set by Pappel-G at the new Concept Bar Exit, an area dedicated to musical and performative experimentation.
In addition to the permanent exhibition at CAM Museum, the personal exhibition of artist Enzo Cref, “The Labyrinth of Partenope,” curated by artist IABO with a text by Annalisa Ferraro, will be inaugurated at the CAM Factory.
An important new feature will be the launch of “ArteInnova,” a museum digitalization project created by Genesis Group. This project includes the use of avatars in the metaverse, allowing users to virtually explore the museum and interact with the artworks in an interactive and personalized way. Thanks to this technology, users can experience CAM in a dynamic and collective manner, participating in live events and performances in a fully digital environment. Additionally, the CAM Chatbot will provide information about the collection and the artists by responding to visitors’ questions, a true chat dedicated to the Museum.
